The building was built in the 1930s. Rationalism influenced its architecture; one we would like to imagine free of any other influence from the 1920s. Our love for the mountains is genuine and we try to strike the necessary balance between nature and tourism. It is not easy. There are numerous contradictions, all pretty clear, yet we are convinced there is a path we can tread on to find the right balance. Maybe we can find it together? The Dolomites are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, yet the ‘site’ only starts from 2,000 m altitude. We are located below the Dolomites, opposite the Sassolungo, just above 1,000 m attitude. Therefore, down here, everyone does what they want. We try to do the best we can.
We pamper the area and our home with loving words. We have renovated our old home by preserving what has always been there: doors, windows, floors and much more. Whatever is new stands out visually as well as materially from what already existed. We have created a fracture which, at the end of the day, unites different elements. Past and present amalgamate into the future. We are aesthetes and want people who visit us to feel good. The renovation is based on three principles: slowness, calmness, serenity. Our ambition is to make you feel at home by making you the light of the home, embracing you in its warmth. We want to capture your attention when explaining that we used crude steel, larch wood, natural stone, clay, felt, and gravel to give this building of ours a new life, deciding not to exaggerate with the colours. We believe the materials themselves are the colours.
You can find us in Val Gardena, in the heart of the most beautiful outdoor gym in the world. You might think us biased but we believe it is true. We are just a stone’s throw away from the lift facilities of the Rasciesa, the Seceda and the Alpe di Siusi and, no matter the season, adventure is always on the agenda. In the valley, sport opportunities abound. Choose from hiking cycling, skiing, climbing, picking mushrooms, and walking. Or, better yet, decide to do simply nothing: after all, the valley is home to Olympic champions in relaxation. Last but not least, Bolzano is not too far from us and we are surrounded by other stunning Ladin valleys.
